Ah....the month of love.....or business...or birthdays...or basketball....or cold. 

 Let's see, the month started out with Miranda getting to go down to see the sun for a day. Her Madrigals choir  was one of two high school choirs asked to perform at the Utah Music Educators Conference in St. George. Since they will be using all their allotted overnights for the year for their choir tour --in March--they had to do this trip all in one day.  They left at about 6am and returned after midnight, but Miranda said with having just 24 of them going and getting a chance to see the sun, it was well worth it.  Yep, those girls look happy!

Just a few days later, our sweet baby Nathan turned......10!  What?!!! I'm not sure how that happened, but it did nonetheless and I'm not too happy about it!  His birthday again landed on Superbowl Sunday...a great excuse for a family Superbowl-birthday party.  Fun times for him:)

 Instead of an official birthday party this year, Nathan decided he wanted to have a day of activity with just a few friends.  Alex and Sam came over about 10am on Saturday morning (the 2nd).  After opening a few gifts, playing video games and eating lunch we headed out to Airborne--an indoor trampoline place and then to waste some more money at Nickelcade. Nathan pulled a muscle at Airborne and didn't have as much fun as predicted, but at least he still had Nickelcade.

After getting home from that adventure, we took Alex and Sam back to their homes and rested for an hour or so and then the fun continued. Matt picked Sam back up and got Nick, another friend of Nathan's, and they all headed down to Provo for the BYU basketball game.  The night ended with hot dogs at the game and Krispy Kreme on the way home. A full day of fun.  So after a full weekend we can officially say we celebrated Nathan's birthday.

The next event of the month was Miranda's Sweethearts dance.  This is a girl's choice dance that Jordan High has every year.  Miranda went with a friend named Nathan Hyde and they had a great time. For their day activity they fixed the boys breakfast and went to Airborne.  Of course it was a school dance day, so there had to be a huge blizzard ....a little crazy having the kids out on the roads, but at least Miranda went with a big group and wasn't the one driving.

On Valentine's Day I. of course, got spoiled by my sweet second graders...they are SO kind!

Finally, by the middle of February, we saw the sun again!  Oh happy day!!!! We actually saw the sun a few times this month.  Never enough to touch the feet of snow in the yard, but enough that we wanted to get out of the house.  One Saturday we decided to go on another snowshoe hike with the Ruppers, Alice and Ben, and my friend Dina Croll joined in on the fun too.  We hiked the Pipeline Trail up Millcreek Canyon.  Because this is a popular trail and on a south facing slope we really didn't need to use snowshoes except for on the way down. It was a great hike and a beautiful day! It was also my sister in law Laura's birthday, so we got to go back to her house afterwards for some yummy treats.  Thanks Laura!

A few of us opted not to put on snowshoes and go down part of the trail on our backsides instead..what fun!

Tyler had some adventures this month too.  The day he decided to go skiing with Matt turned into a total blizzard.  Lot's of powder and lots of cold don't make for the best day skiing:(  But, he did have some other fun adventures in the snow.  The week after President's Day the kids had a random Friday off school and Tyler got invited to go to the Proctor's cabin with them to go snowmobiling.  Lucky for me Anne Marie took some photos.

This last week Tyler performed at the school talent show with his friends.  They came up with their own jazz combo and sounded great.

And today, to end the month with a bang, Miranda flew to DC with her choir, but you'll just have to wait until next month to hear all about that adventure:)
