June

June is going to be a very busy month.  We are out of school and have a busy summer planned.

I stated the month off with finally getting to see my student, Blake Hullinger, in his Broadway show School of Rock!  Blake (and his brother Kellen) have been students at Summit for years.  This year Blake was in my class..."technically". He ended up landing a part with the Broadway touring group for School of Rock, so he actually spent most of the school year touring around the US and Canada. He was a swing...which meant that there were 3-4 roles he knew and he would fill in where needed each night.  This kid is AMAZINGLY talented!  I was sad to only have him in my class a handful of times during the school year, but it was great working with his tutors and him through the year as he worked remotely through all the 6th grade curriculum. Della Miller had also taught Blake, and Kellen, so it was fun to make a night of it with her.  We had a yummy dinner at Blue Lemon and then met up with Blake and his family before the show started. Great friends, great food, and AMAZING entertainment! Blake ROCKED it as Zach!

The rest of the week was spent preparing for our summer European Adventure! Oh and going to state meetings with the principals to develop our LEA literacy goals for next year. The new job started even before the last one ended. No pictures of that "funness" though...
