April--Living in a COVID-19 quarantined world...

Well, we survived a full month of "Stay Safe, Stay at Home" orders...only going out when necessary. No going out or staying in with friends and everything is still closed except for essential services. Matt and I are working from home and Nathan is doing online school. Here are some things we did to fill the time:

 Going on hikes and walks.  This was a fun tree we found while walking on the Bonneville Shoreline trail in Draper.

In the midst of all this Carona stuff, we tried to have a fairly normal Easter Sunday. We had our basket of treats--now that the kids are older no more individual baskets or eggs to decorate and hide.  

We had "church" over Zoom with the Hatch family.

Then , of course, we had a yummy Easter dinner of ham, cheesy potatoes, veggies and rolls. Kind of sad not having more visitors there for dinner, but we were happy to have Jacob and Miranda there with us.

And just to give us something to do and to unify the state this happened...

It was so fun to have something to look forward to.  The area up by the temple had a great view and lots of people to view it.  It was fun to see everyone coming together to watch. There were families sitting together to have picnics, everyone happy with something to do, and everyone keeping 6ft apart. Nathan and Tyler chose to stay home and watch the planes from the roof...they might have had the best view. Our view was short but still worth it.

April 30 would have been Tyler and Callie 's graduation from Utah State University with a degree in Fisheries. He's finished and will get a diploma, but there was no commencement celebration due to COVID--so we had to improvise.  Callie made this cute graduation ceremony scene in Animal Crossing.

Can I just say, Tyler rocked college!  He seriously did .  He was selected as the Undergraduate Teaching Fellow of the year by the College of Natural Resources. His college sent him this cool clock and then his department sent him this nice plaque. Go Tyler!!

Instead of going out to dinner at a fancy restaurant...since they are all closed..we did take out at Nielsen's Frozen Custard. And, let's be honest, Tyler wanted grilled cheese anyhow. We had planned to make it a picnic, but it was a bit too chilly.

The Grads! 

After eating we watched the video I made for Tyler and played games. Since he couldn't have a graduation party, I just had friends and family send their wished via video. Here's the link to the video:

A few days later (OK so these photos were technically taken in May) Andrea, Callie's mom, did a photo shoot with the grads.  She was able to find some random cap and gowns and was even able to use Callie's sister's diploma from Utah State. I think the photos turned out great!
