Happy New Year! This year is going to be great! After the crazy year that 2020 turned out to be, let's hope it's all we want it to be.

For school, I wanted to make it fun to come back to in January so we had a lot of great activities planned. A lot of this is what kept me busy this month.  

We started with a clap in on our first day back. We had balloon arches over the entrance to the junior high and the elementary entrances. In the morning, teachers lined up and clapped for the students as they walked in to the school. It was such a fun way to start back to school. 

Then to prepare for our time capsule we had one day where we took a drone shot of the entire school. It was so great to have all of our students in one shot. I am so thankful the weather cooperated with me on this one. No snow and freezing temps. I loved how it turned out.  You can watch the video here.

Then we had our time capsule ceremony. It was great to have an all school "assembly" -even if it was virtual for most of the school. Streaming it into the classrooms worked out just fine.  It was so fun to see this endeavor carried out from just a thought as I was going to sleep to the finished time capsule filled with great items to remind us of the crazy year that 2020 was. Then we had the quarter 2 Honor Roll Breakfast for the junior high.  We were able to make it COVID friendly and the kids loved being served pancakes.

OK so enough about work.  There were other great things that happened.

Mid January Matt and I were able to go to the glass blowing class that Miranda and Nathan gave us for Christmas. It was SO much fun!! It was at the Red Flower Studios up in Park City.  We got to create two different pieces. Our instructor was talented and very skillful in teaching us how to do what needed to be done. It was seriously one of the best dates! We are now glass blowing pros...well almost :) 

Here are the two items we created. A bowl made from blowing a larger bubble and then sucking it in and then a bowl that we pulled and bent into shape.

On January 20th Joe Biden was inaugurated as the president. The Capitol building was stormed a few days prior-pretty crazy stuff. It was great watching Kamala Harris being sworn in as the first woman vice president.  History in the making!

The days following the inauguration the nation was finally unified....in making crazy memes out of Bernie Sanders sitting at the inauguration. It was hilarious to see what everyone was coming up with.  This was my favorite-Bernie sitting in the court yard at my high school. 

This month Matt and Jacob took on a project that we have been wanting to do for awhile. They built, painted, and installed a barn door for our basement entry. It looks so good! The cats aren't sure how much they like it though.  It means they can now be "locked" in the basement at night if they bug us.

Stanford just kickin' back enjoying a nice relaxing weekend... My cats are so silly! 

Another great date night-well afternoon. What? Two in one month? Lucky us! Our neighbors form across the street planned and invited us to do a couples paining date at our clubhouse. It was nice to get out with friends and do something fun and creative. 

Then, the best part of the month, finally came.  On January 23rd I received my first dose of the COVID vaccine. Wahoo! I didn't have much of a reaction-just a bruise and sore arm. So ready be vaccinated so I can go visit Dennis and travel again. I am so in need of a beach right now!
