At Summer's End

So, here we are at summer's end. One of those bittersweet times. We've had a pretty good summer. We have had a lot of sleeping in and lazy days. And although we didn't go on a big trip (our big one will be the week of Thanksgiving), we did do a lot. OK, so I haven't been the best at blogging about it all, but I was too busy doing it all. So, here are a few things we have done:

*We went to a Barney family reunion (Matt's mom's family) The Barney clan is always fun to hang aroun. This year Matt's cousin RaeAnn organized a 5K to go withthe reunion and even had T-shirts made up.
Caroline, Laura, Me, RaeAnn, and Amberly
The back of the reunion shirt.
The four Barney sisters- Dallas, Ria, MaryAnn,and Susan (their brother didn't make it)
*Matt, Jacob, and Steven climbed Mt Superior and Monte Cristo. Matt, Jacob, and a few neighbors also climbed Pfeifferhorn
*Matt has already summited 15 peaks so far-trail running and hiking...and he's not done yet:) Actually, he's hoping to double that number. Crazy! Here he is a the top of Timp
and a the top of Ben Lomond with his brother Mike.
*Jacob went on a three day backpacking trip with some of his buddies to Mt. Baldie. (in front of Timp) Stevie, Dan, Tyler, and AJ
*Miranda and Jacob spent a few days down in Manti at Snow College for our ward youth conference.
*Miranda spent a week (just about) at stake girls camp up American Fork Canyon.
*Miranda spent a week attending EFY right here at the Sandy institute.
*Nathan and Matt went on an over night backpacking trip up Bells Canyon (ya think he had fun?)
*We went to a Salt Lake Bees game for Matt's summer work party. Food vouchers+friends+great seats+fireworks=one great game:)
Tyler and Cole
Nathan and Ethan
*Tyler spent a week up at the Bear Lake Aquatics Boy Scout camp. He earned 7 merit badges including aviation.
*Nathan lost his front tooth
*Went tent camping with the Hatch Family. Nate with his cousins James and Logan
*Tyler and Matt went on an overnight backpacking trip to Lake Blanche. They forgot to bring a mug or cup and had to drink there cocoa out of a bowl:)
*We tore down what was left of our back fence and have spent all summer putting a new one up. It has been a BIG project
*We have gone up to the canyon for picnics with friends---always fun.
*I think we have roasted marshmallows over fires at least a dozen times. Now isn't that the measure of summer. i could make a new quote:
"It isn't the amount of days in summer that matter, but the amount of marshmallows roasted."
Dylan Foster's perfectly roasted marshmallow
Well, if we measure our summer by roasted marshmallows, it has been a success. I guess we are ready to head back to the rigors of school ---well, maybe...we do have a few more days to play:)

Oh, my gosh. That was your lazy summer? What do you do during your non-lazy summers? :)

I think # of marshmallows roasted is a perfect way to measure the summer. Sounds like you guys crammed a lot in!
