Good- Miranda has been chosen as the English Sterling Schoar for Jordan High School! Wahoo and way to go Miranda! We are so excited for her. She is one smart chica!
Good- Tyler's band concert- Tyler had his first band concert of the year. He played with the concert band and had some great solos with the jazz band. Here is one of the songs from the jazz band. Tyler has one solo that he stands up for and then he is the sax that is going crazy over everyone else at the end.
Good- Miranda's choir concert- Miranda also had a concert this month. It was her first concert singing with the Madrigals and Acapella. They were quite amazing and she looked so pretty in her red dress (front row-third from left)
Good-My birthday!- I had a great birthday this year and was just as spoiled as usual. My TA made this "birthday cake" for me--cool huh!
Matt and the kids took me out to dinner and then we had hot fudge brownie sundaes at home. YUM!The Friday after my birthday my friends took me out to dinner, to a movie and to The Cheesecake Factory for dessert...super YUM-O! What nice friends I have!
The Sad-The month started off with sadness. On October 2nd our sweet, yet slightly crazy, cat Shadow got hit by a car out in front of our house. She made it back up to the side of our house, but not any further.
So, we have no more of this cuteness. Just one very lonely red kitty that is wondering where his company has gone.
The Sad-Missing Jacob's 20th birthday-well, we didn't miss it we sent a nice package, but we never did get to see him:( The first birthday out in the mission field...i think it was a little easier for him than it was for us. Funny kid. he asked us to send him an Avengers blanket for his birthday--he hasn't even seen the movie. So, we sent it. His companion was jealous and asked his parents to send him a blanket too.
They did, and much to the boys delights, it was the Same blanket. awe...matching beds...at least until the next transfer.
The Ugly-Miranda's leg after her latest surgery- on the 16th Miranda had her 6th surgery. This time the doctors were removing the hardware from her good leg..it was rubbing on her IT band and causing pain. It was an out patient surgery with a short recovery time. This time--so far--things have gone well with recovery. She is back at school and work, driving, and walking just fine. Now, we are just waiting for 6-7 weeks to pass so we can say for sure that there was NO STAPH this time. Then we will breathe easy.
Ugly-The blizzard I had to drive to work in on October 24th- NOOOOOO Tooo early for Snow! Well Oct 24th was too early. I guess it fair game now, but the weather was actually beautiful for Halloween--so whatever!
Ugly-Zombie Nathan on Halloween-
We had a great Halloween this year filled with all the usual...The Hatch family Halloween party with grandpa's homemade rootbeer, doughnut's on a string, the silly spook alley, and stomping on bubble wrap while dancing to "The Monster Mash"
| The adults (and Miranda) watching the football game while the kids played:) |
carving pumpkins.....
Halloween night was so warm! We had such a fun night. Both of our neighbors that moved this summer came back for trick-or-treating. Nathan had a lot of fun hanging with the old gang...and getting a large bag of candy wasn't bad either!
and so, that was our October...if you are still awake...and for a reward for getting through that horribly long post, I leave you with this.....Mrs. Hatch was Miss Piggy for Halloween this year....It worked with my Kermit classroom..my second graders loved it:)
