November

 

November was a pretty mellow month.  Just doing what we do.  Nathan is still working at Rockwell Ice Cream in Daybreak, although his hours have been reduced-funny no one really wants to eat ice cream when it's cold outside.  Let's start this month off with these adorable photos of Otter that Tyler took. When he shared them it just made my day.

OK so these next two things really happened at the end of October, but I forgot to add them in last month.  On Oct 30th Matt and I met up with Mike and Dolores Frandsen for dinner at their new home in Daybreak. Marta was there with her hubby and son. It was so fun to catch up with them!  So fun that they moved down here closer to us too.  Hopefully we will get to see them more often.

On Halloween morning Matt went on a hike with Darin Lythgoe. They went to Desolation Lake and Little Water Peak.  They had tons of fun skipping rocks across the frozen lake and listening to the echo.

So November brought more and more cases of COVID. Our daily count here in Utah has just gone up and up, many days over 3000 new cases. Nathan's school, along with many others, have switched to online remote learning until after Thanksgiving. Summit has had cases, but luckily we have not had to shut the whole school down yet. 

Joe Biden won the presidential election, but President Trump has not conceded the election yet. He's still managing to make a mess of things. 

To celebrate Matt's birthday this year,  Matt and Jacob went on a hike and we went out to Red 88 Asian Bistro so he could get some sushi. On Sunday we had a yummy dinner and Miranda made a delicious chocolate cake from scratch.

Thanksgiving this year was so different. Thanks to COVID-19 we couldn't gather as a large Hatch family. We couldn't go to Vegas to be with Mary and Dennis. We couldn't meet the Sants in Moab. What we did do was have a small Thanksgiving dinner with just the five of us. Miranda was going to have her two roommates join us, but a week or so before Thanksgiving they were exposed so they stayed home. We were able to drop off plates of food for them. Since it wasn't safe for Ron to eat with any family Alice made a plan for us all to do a drive by Thanksgiving for him with each of us dropping off one part of the meal to him. We dropped off turkey and ham.  

Our dinner was delicious even if only a few of us shared it. We were able to do a zoom call with all the Sants and we were able to facetime with Tyler and Callie. For Thanksgiving they drove to Oklahoma and spent the day with Mike and Jen's family.

Sadly no movie theater movie for us this year either. So, we very democratically selected a movie, Apollo 13, for us to watch in our basement "theater".  Not quite the same as our traditional Thanksgiving movie, but is was fun never the less. 

On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving Matt and I were able to attend the temple to witness the sealing of our next door neighbors -the Casimiro family. It was such a special evening. So wonderful to see this family progress in their journey to heaven. So wonderful to be back in the temple again. Due to COVID-19 the temples have only been open for live sessions. There have been no proxy sessions since the middle of March.
