Not as planned

Last weekend I was all geared up to update my blog with a post titled "In other news..." to fill you in on all the things that the boys have been up to while Miranda has been recovering. I was going to share things like:

*Jacob getting to go white water rafting and canoeing down the snake river in the Tetons
*Jacob going skydiving with Stevie, his Aunt Alice and Alice's friend. Yes one of those crazy things young adults do.
*Tyler spending a week at scout camp
*Nathan hiking to Grandeur peak with his dad and grandpa *Nathan hiking to the Y with cousins *Me taking Nathan and his good friend Sam on a downtown adventure that included riding TRAX, going to the planetarium, the church history museum, and, of course, the fountains by the temple. *Matt taking the boys on a three day backpacking adventure....an adventure that taught the boys it's OK to end up on plan F and taught them that YES mosquito's can eat you alive even through your clothing. But instead of all that I get to tell you about:
*Having to take Miranda to the ER on Friday night instead of having the "girls night" we planned because the boys were at a father and sons campout....ya they had to come home.
*How she's been in the hospital since then.
*That she had surgery on Sunday to suck out puss from the infection. Then she had surgery again yesterday to remove the metal hardware in her left leg...the one with the infection. I guess STAPH really likes to hang around metal pieces.
*I get to tell you that she had a PICC line placed in her arm so she can take IV antibiotics for the next 6 weeks.
*That she will not be starting school on Monday with everyone else
*How she is not very happy about any of this. The smiles you see in the last post are now gone.

So we can safely say.....this last week has not gone as planned, but we have had great help from those around us and our fridge is quite full. Thank you everyone for all the help you've given....especially yesterday when Jacob also had surgery to get his wisdom teeth removed. Two kids in surgery in one day....that was a new one to us:)

Oh, poor Miranda. Hope she feels better soon. I remember taking my entire family minus Aaron and Sam into the ER at 2:00 in the morning last summer when Chad almost cut his finger off at high adventure while Sam and Aaron were at Scout Camp. Good times!

Oh no! This will be a summer for the record books. Tell Miranda we're so sorry. Are you trying to start school too?
