Squaw Peak

On Saturday we had another great family hike. This time we hiked to the top of Squaw Peak--up Rock Canyon-above Provo. Although Matt has done this hike several times in the last few years, I had not done it since before Jacob was born. The hike is 8 miles,4 steadily steep uphill miles followed by 4 fast miles down. Luckily for us about 85% of the hike is in the shade and, of course, it's VERY beautiful. The view from the top is great. It's fun to look down on all of Utah Valley. The younger kids did AMAZING on this hike. They hardly ever wanted to take breaks--especially on the way down.

After the hike we all went swimming to celebrate this cutie's 5th birthday
Oh yes, we have some pretty cute nieces and Katie is one of them.  Jumping in the pool after a long hot hike felt amazing. We were so lucky that Katie chose to invite us to swim at her great grandma's house for her birthday.  It was fun to have a pool full of Hatches.  Other family members that weren't on the hike joined us for the party too.  What fun!

See, I told you I had some pretty cute nieces and nephews.  Nothing beats Popsicles on a hot summer day!
